It all started in April 2017 when Elena needed a date to her sorority formal. Her friend asked around, and she ended up recommending Ryan Schulz. Elena took one look at his Facebook profile picture and accepted.

On the night of the formal, to Elena’s dismay, Ryan brought Captain Morgan and apple juice to pregame, and it was surprisingly delicious. They both drank a lot of this concoction. They got to know each other, they laughed, they danced, and they kissed, and after that night, they were excited to go on their first date.

One date turned into four dates, and after a long summer apart, they decided to make it official on August 22nd, 2017.

Key Historical Events

  1. July 2017

    Elena found out she had her read receipts on a couple months in. That meant she had been reading Ryan’s texts immediately, then waiting hours to respond (trying to play it cool), and then texting him an excuse like “sorry I was studying!” He somehow still wanted to date her.

  2. October 2017

    Elena and Ryan said “I love you” for the first time on Halloween. Ryan’s costume was a banana and Elena was dressed as Miley Cyrus at her iconic VMAs performance in 2013 (evidence below).

Throughout the first 8 years, Elena and Ryan attended more sorority formals, graduated, went on trips, and moved in together after a cross-country move.

After not so patiently waiting on Elena’s end, Ryan FINALLY proposed in November 2025. It was about damn time.

To the friends and family who have witnessed our relationship grow and change, we are so excited to celebrate with you at our wedding on August 21, 2027 — a day before our 10 year anniversary. We love you all!
