Wedding Survival Guide
A manual for surviving altitude and an open bar.
Respect the Altitude
The venue sits at approximately 8,650 feet above sea level. Your body will probably be freaking out.
- Start drinking extra water BEFORE you arrive — do not wait until you have a headache.
- Drink electrolytes!!!
- Apply lots of lotion and sunscreen — your skin will need lots of moisture, and sunburns happen much faster at high altitudes.
The wedding party has a zero-tolerance policy for anyone saying “I don’t need water” before having a cocktail. The altitude WILL humble you.
Alcohol: Proceed with Caution
At high altitude:
- Alcohol can hit faster.
- Hangovers will be worse.
- Dehydration happens more quickly.
Recommended ratio One drink → one glass of water.
Barf bags will be provided on the shuttles, but please don’t use them.
Eat Food
Before drinking alcohol at high altitudes, eat:
- Carbohydrates
- Healthy fats
- Potassium-rich foods (bananas, avocados, salmon)
These foods slow down how fast your body absorbs alcohol and help fix electrolyte imbalances caused by thin, dry mountain air.
Daily Checklist
- Breakfast
- Lunch
- Water
- Snacks
- Common sense
Please take care of yourselves, hydrate aggressively, and remember: the goal is to actually remember the wedding.
